Sitting Pretty

We visited our 44th National Park in April of 2006, Channel Islands off the coast of Ventura/Oxnard, CA. What luck we had in our timing, especially on Anacapa Island! The flowers including the coreopsis shown here were not only blooming (normally the coreopsis are dead-looking grey, we were told), but the seagulls were nesting, so I could get many up close images. This is the first of (at least 3) art quilts based on that wonderful experience!
