| 9 7/8" w. x 9 5/8" h. After the dual tragedies of September 11, 2001, of the death of my mother-in-law who was a real cheerleader for me and the New York, Washington and Pennsylvania tragedies, I felt an urge to make red and black and yellow silk shibori fabric. This piece came out of that effort. Each of the major buildings is symbolized by the red shapes, and the background and shadows of their collapse. It is a computer-manipulated combination of several shibori fabrics I created in silk and cotton. Polyester disperse dyed, machine quilted, cotton border. Framed in black fabric on 13" x 13" frame. I would like to dedicate this to those lost to us all on that black day. Copyright 2001 by Barbara Barrick McKie, all rights reserved. |
