The work really “takes shape” when I create beautiful shapes within the piece for the up-close viewer. The process of freedom as I draw with my sewing machine to quilt it is the most satisfying to me. In Pensive Pelican, I combined the waves coming into the beach in Hermosa Beach, CA, with a Pelican that was sitting on the pier and two other images. Disperse dyed polyester fabric, machine appliqued and machine quilted.
