An Orange for Lunch

15" w. x 12" h.
In my drawing class at the Lyme Academy of Arts, we were doing drawings of fruit, and other objects. I liked one of the sketches so well that I decided to try it in fabric. Techniques used: Disperse dye transfers, immersion hand dyed cottons, machine applique and machine quilting. This piece was juried into the "Edge to Edge" art quilt show at the Museum of American Folk Art in New York City, and was featured on the cover of the catalogue for the exhibit. It was also published in American Craft Magazine, August/Sept. 1998 and the Magazine of the Museum of American Folk Art, Summer, 1998 and in the New York Daily News, June 14, 1998.
