Mommy and Me

On our trip to Africa we saw quite a few baboons doing all kinds of hijinks, but this image of a mother and it's tiny nursing baby just had to be the subject of my first quilt from my African experience. These two were part of a band near Cape Town South Africa. The hair on the animals was heavily quilted and then given a trapunto effect. I plan a series of animal interaction art pieces.
