On our trip to Northern Australia we visited a private nature preserve and encounted several gentle Pademelons with their baby joeys in their pouches. Pademelons are the smallest of the Kangaroo-Wallaby-Pademelon family, approximately 16-20 inches from nose to start of tail. I photographed a pair and printed the image to polyester fabric, then thread painted the animals and using 2-6 layers of wool batting created a trapunto treatment, and then heavily free-motion quilted the background, and enhanced the outlines of the animals. The border is one of my hand dyed cotton fabrics.
