Fanfare for an Orange

77" w. x 48" h.
An orange is interpreted in it's various stages of being eaten. The last pedestal shows the orange in it's dried state. Oranges are disperse dyed polyester, and the rest is hand painted silk. Extensive free-motion quilting including thousands of circular oranges in the background embellish the quilt. This quilt has been selected for inclusion in the opening art quilt show at the new location of the Museum of American Folk Art in NYC. The opening of the show will be Sept 24, 2001. Fifteen quilts were selected from an international competition, and two are by Barbara McKie. See also Autumn in New England.
