22" w. x 23 3/4" h. In 2000 there are many doors opening to opportunity. Behind the doors that open on the quilt other doors are represented. The doors of the telephone booths represent communication opportunities around the world. This one is from England. Behind a second door are the doors to an airplane, representing the advances in transportation. Behind the third door is the inner door air-lock door that I designed to our house. Looking closely, one can see me reflected in the stained glass in the door that I made. This door represents the artistic progress of the artist in an attempt to open new doors of art. Techniques include shibori, immersion dyed cottons and digital polyester fabrics by the artist, piecing and machine quilting. Copyright by Barbara Barrick McKie, all rights reserved. |
