Duel for my Dahlias
by Barbara Barrick McKie

43.5" w. x 43" h.

The third in my flower reflections series. These collarette type dahlias called Pooh variety seem to collect all kinds of insects, many several at a time. I captured this yellow swallowtail butterfly and a Japanese beetle together for this composition, but I've also seen hummingbirds, other butterflies, and most of all bees, as many as 4 on one flower at a time. The blue is a reflection of our pool near the flowers.

Disperse dyed polyester, machine appliqued and machine quilted.
