Dahlias a la Mode
by Barbara Barrick McKie

25.75" w. x 31" h.

I grew an A la Mode Dahlia in my garden in the summer of 2003. It had unusual flowers with some very light almost white petals and others deep pinkish-peach in color and some with petals that were half and half. Two particularly striking flowers inspired this quilt. The textures of the barn board are brought out in the quilting. The piece in person almost has a three-dimensional feeling with great depth.

Disperse dyed polyester with hand dyed cotton borders, machine appliqued and heavily machine quilted.
